Minnesota Interactive Marketing Association basics
What is MIMA?
The Minnesota Interactive Marketing Association (MIMA) is a networking and professional development forum for interactive marketing professionals.
That said, we're not your average, gotta-have-something-on-my-resume organization. We kick it up a notch with events that challenge the status quo and bring the interactive community together to discuss tough issues.
Since its inception, MIMA has grown from a loose network of a just a few folks to professional association that hosts seminars, networking events and conferences, with attendance ranging from 50 to 200.
What types of events does MIMA host?
Our salons (evening happy hour sessions), seminars (breakfast learning opportunities) and annual Summit showcase speakers and topics that have practical relevance for our daily work, but they offer inspiration and vision, as well. What's more, we actually like to kick back and have some fun along the way.
Who is involved with MIMA?
Members include professionals from all disciplines of design, media, promotions, content development, product development, publishing, marketing, usability and experience design.
When was MIMA founded?
The story goes something like this … MIMA was started in 1998 by a group of about 10 local marketing professionals who worked on "Internet stuff” and were looking for like-minded people. The original group started having breakfast at Perkins and happy hour at the New French and soon, other people started showing up. In 1999, MIMA started hosting monthly events at the Walker Art Center.
Why was MIMA created?
To connect, educate and partner with our members and guests to elevate the quality of interactive marketing practiced here and around the country.
Plain and simple, we are blown away by the amazing interactive marketing work that's done right here in Minnesota. That's why we're helping to raise awareness on both local and national levels of the incredible talent that exists here.
How many members comprise MIMA?
300 and counting.
