Own it: Uncovering the Intrapreneur in All of Us

Intrapreneur: A manager within a company who promotes innovative product development and marketing. Intrapreneurs are invaluable to business today — they enable innovation, grow bottom lines, and introduce new perspectives to established companies. But more than anything, it’s the energy they bring to teams that benefits workplaces. They think independently, take initiative, exhibit ownership, accept their role as leaders, and make decisions.

In this session, Nancy Lyons will speak to the core attributes of intrapreneurship and intrapreneurs and discuss how — and why — to bring these characteristics into your daily work.

 Nancy Lyons

Nancy Lyons
President/CEO, Clockwork

Nancy's guided by a few simple, but telling, mottos: think strategically, act thoughtfully, and be a good human.

Nancy works at the intersection of technology, community, and people. As a leader and technologist, she creates solutions that further community and business goals by meeting the needs of individuals. Her guiding philosophy is that a human-centered approach to technology is the only way to get results that make a difference. Problem solving is about empowerment: motivated people create good products. Nancy supports clients and teams by fostering a collaborative, idea-driven culture that nurtures creativity and brainpower.

She speaks extensively about work culture, entrepreneurship, social media, technology, and leadership and has been locally and nationally recognized for her role as owner and CEO of Clockwork. She's co-author of Interactive Project Management: Pixels, People, and Process (New Riders, 2012), serves as the Vice Chair on the National Board of Directors at The Family Equality Council, is on the Board of Trustees at Minnesota Public Radio, and is a member of the advisory board for the innovative entrepreneurial conference, Giant Steps.

Under Nancy’s leadership, Clockwork has received more than 16 “Best Workplace" awards. Clockwork has also won the Psychologically Healthy Workplace, Best Women Owned Business, and Bicycle Friendly Business awards. Independently, Nancy received the Minneapolis/St. Paul Business Journal Diversity in Business award and was a finalist for Minnesota Business Magazine’s Community Impact award. In June of 2014 Nancy spoke on the structure of the workplace at the inaugural White House Summit for Working Families in Washington, DC.
